Alterations and modifications
Alterations can be an exciting process to transform your home or office spaces into a new look. Modifications are the partial alteration of an existing building structure or interior design layout or fitout, including machinery installation. Modifications to land should be carried out in accordance with SBCA’s Code of Practice for Unauthorised Development 2012 and SBCA’s Design Guide on Remodelling and Addition of Buildings 2001. Depending on the extent of modifications, it is important that the modification plans are subjected to relevant approval from the Building Consent Authority.
For projects where alteration of structural components are involved, such as adding additional storeys and/or building up works on top of existing properties, WEDA will work closely with qualified persons (QP) or professional engineers (PE) in preparing the alteration plans. Additional works for home renovation
If a home renovation project requires additional works to a landed and private property, a Qualified Person (QP) is needed by URA. Should a customer choose WEDA StudioInc as the interior designer for his / her home renovation project, and if there are any A&A works in the project, a QP will be appointed for the project.
To ensure a smooth approval process, a QP is appointed for a project upon commencement of works. This goes hand-in-hand with a professional engineering team to provide a high level of services throughout the entire construction process and beyond. Working closely with our engineers, we help keep our clients updated on any building code issues they may face during the renovation period.
